Determined to make an early start Lulu sucked down some particularly cheery, Cheerios and, after getting changed and packing the diaper bag and taking a nap and getting dressed again and having a quick lunch and another nap and another diaper change, we arrived at the crack of 4.00pm at Longwood Gardens - and people say you can't get out of the house quickly with a baby in tow.
The gardens were absolutely beautiful and reminded us very much of the grounds of some of the Stately Homes of England. For Lulu the highlight was the children sized fountains where much splashy fun was to be had.
Notice the little boy trying to get her with the old "ladybug on your chin" line - its the oldest trick in the book, you won't find Lulu falling for that one no siree. Also you will see that she is just a tiny bit more "damp" in the final photo than she was when we arrived.
Luckily Lulu was wearing her bloomers, I mean one doesn't want one's public to see one running around in one's diaper while one's dress drys does one?

Goat encounters of the hairy kind.
Fortified by a hearty breakfast, and having run 3 laps of the dining room we headed off for the Zoo, well Loopity Lu and I did, Simon had to work - hey its like we always say someone's gotta keep us in Fruit Puffs and Baby Lulu outfits and he's the man to do it.
So with the promise of tigers and elephants and all manner of wild and exotic creatures we arrived at the zoo and what did we find there? Goats, wild, exotic, magnificent and noble . . . Goats!
Ah what the heck Lulu doesn't know any different she thinks swans are ducks and bed bolsters are ponies. So here is Looby Loo's "Goat encounter."

So Mr Goaty Goat d'ya like my shoes? Pretty nice eh, and they squeak.
Hey, Mummy he wants to eat my shoes! Ahhhh no he doesn't he just wants a little pat. What a nice goat, not so terribly wild after all.

Sleep is over rated anyway.
No we didn't make her sleep in the crib, yes, she did cry pretty much half the night. The trouble is Lulu likes to sleep in her own room, by herself, she finds it hard to settle if she is in the same room as us. However, as the budget doesn't stretch to separate rooms and apparently the Hotel management take a dim view of babies checking into their rooms solo Lulu was forced to share with us. Oh the inhumanity of it!
Luckily, for Lulu, after her restless night SHE was able to catch up on some much needed Zzzz the next day.
Aaaaah the angel sleeps!
The hotel we were staying at had their own resident swans and everyday at 5.30pm the Swan Master (who knew Swans had Masters) would call them in from their paddling and general lazying about in the lake to have dinner. One of the few (very few) words Lulu can say is "quack". Its a word she came to us knowing (apparently ducks were big at the SWI). Lulu loves her some ducks, and swans well they are pretty much ducks right? The first evening she just watched and took it all in, by the second evening she was getting the hang of things and by the third evening it was all I could do to keep her arms out of the pen. I mean those were hungry swans and there was nothing they'd have enjoyed more than a nice bite of sweet, succulent, juicy baby arms - well get ya own baby ya great big duckies this baby is mine.
Lulu was thrilled to discover that the flowers matched her new outfit from Auntie Red Headed Chick (thank you Auntie RHC) but was shocked to discover that "Mirror Lulu" had on the same ensemble - how embarrassing, our people must speak to her people to make sure this doesn't happen again - of course our Lulu looked way cuter in it!
Lulu was highly amused by our idea that maybe she would like to sleep in the crib tonight- oh yeah right like that's gonna happen.
Delaware here we come!
So here we are ready for the off. How can it be that we have more luggage for five day trip to Wilmington, DE than we had for a 17 day trip to China? And no we didn't make Lulu stay in the trunk for the whole trip down, . . . . . . . . . . . just the first 100 miles.
Okay, okay so we relented and let her ride up front. Please note that we set off with bow in hair, shoes and socks on and feeling the luurve for Tinky Winky but we arrived sans bow, socks, shoes and poor old TW no where to be seen. We did wave to NYC as we passed by though.
Upon arrival Lulu was so happy to be out of the car that she flung herself round Simon's leg and proceeded to kiss it multiple times. Then off to our room - if its got wheels Lulu is compelled to push it, making for slow progress but we don't have the heart to tell her she's more of hindrance than a help.
OMG, TWO Lulu's - get outta here, who knew!
Giddy up there pony, I love you even if you have no legs, or head, or tail, hey wait a minute Daddy this ain't no pony!
After giving Po the grand tour its off to bed, I said BED Lulu!

Sure I can cope with three - its my lucky number.
A & J's Mummy and Daddy used the same agency as us and on a couple of occasions, during the wait for Lulu, Simon and I got to babysit A & J . Sometimes in that long wait it gets hard to imagine what it will be like to actually have your child home, babysitting A&J gave us a glimpse into the future - thank you M&D for letting us "practise" with your beautiful, funny, kind, clever and loving little girls!
A couple of weeks ago while Simon was sweating it out in TX, A&J came over to play with Lulu and I, poor Simon was not happy that he missed out. I on the other hand got to see what it was like looking after more children than I have hands - piece of cake ;)
We started off with a visit to the park and then headed for farm fresh ice cream where we found the beautiful sight of fields of golden sunflowers.
Here we are 3 little girls ready for the off! Whadda ya mean not so high?

Sunflowers taller than us!
Sunflowers as far as the eye could see and then home again with a zonked out J, a bemused Lulu and a still raring to go A. Note the chocolate ice cream stains all over J's shirt well actually all over J from head to foot. It was really, really hot and the ice cream was melting faster than any of us could lick. I think of the four of us it was only A who managed to stay clean.
I now feel confident that three is a good number, heck make it a nice round four!
The following weekend Lulu and I took Simon to the same place for ice cream - it was obvious we would never hear the last of it if we didn't - it really is the best ice cream ever. The sunflowers had all been cut and were for sale with the money going to the Make-a-wish Foundation - what a wonderful idea for a fund raiser.
Lulu however was less impressed and needed saving from the "Sunflowers of doom"
Run for your lives people before the "Sunflowers of doom" eat you alive!

In which Lulu calls the CCAA
Lulu has been most displeased by the long wait her dear Aunties, Sparky, Kikilee and Redheadchick have been subjected to and not being one to sit idly by she decided to take matters into her own hands and call the CCAA for a little chat.
Let me see now, what is the international dialing code for Beijing, ahhh yes, I remember. Okay, its ringing!
"Hello, hello, is this the CCAA? Yes? Good, put me through to the Director please and make it snappy. Hello, Mr Director, Sir? Its Lulu Monster here, I'm very well thank you Sir and yourself? Well, its about Auntie Sparky, Kikilee and RHC's babies, yeah those crazy bloggy ladies, that's right. Ah ha, ah ha, hmmmm, hmm, I see" vigorous nodding of Lulu Monster head.
He says he is sending Jo and That Girls referrals out really, really soon!!!
"Yes, well that's excellent work Sir but I've got lots of waiting Mummies here and they NEED to see their babies. Oh yes Sir, they are totally ready, they've got cribs and zip lock bags and duct tape and everything Sir. You should see the staircase Auntie Sparky has got, I'm telling you its a babies dream, did you see a photo of it in her dossier? Yeah well, these chicks will let a baby walk up and down it ALL day long, yeah I know Sir its like totally sweeet!
"Babies too cute you say? Your having to stagger sending them so the Stork doesn't drop dead of cuteness overload on the way over? Totally worth the wait you say?
"Yep, Emma and MP's parents are coming over soon, they wanted to know size 3 or 4 diapers? Size 3 you say? Spoons? Yep Random's got the spoon situation under control, yeah they know about the Fruit puffs, yeah their good to go!
Okay Sir, okay I'm going to bed now sheesh I'm not a baby you know" rolling of Lulu Monster's eyes. "Mummy sends her love and says to look out for our dossier in another 6 months - expedited you say Sir? You rock!
