So here is a Christmas advert that I think even Little Miss "just call me Humbug" Curts will enjoy. Its another one from the UK because a) the US Christmas ads haven't really got going here yet and b) the US Christmas ads are rubbish.
This one is for Sainsbury's (a UK supermaket chain) and like the John Lewis advert they are not flogging specific products but instead try to stir up some Christmas cheer and anticipation (causing you to rush out and buy stuff). The advert is a trailer for a film called Christmas in a Day that will be posted on youtube on November 29 (which is excellent because that will be another post for NomyPommy in the bag for me!). You can read about it here
I love it! Which of course I would because I'm a real nosy parker people person so I always enjoy a glimpse into other people's lives. I'm trying very hard not to judge the parents who didn't even wrap half the toys for that excitable little boy in the PJs, but come on, make an effort! If I have to stay up till the wee hours on Christmas Eve wrapping gifts and getting progressively sloppier with the scotch tape, and mislabeling due to short term memory loss from exhuastion causing me to forget what it is that I just wrapped, so should they. That goes for the rest of you slackers out there, presents must be wrapped, its the law!
Also, parents do not cut your children's hair yourselves, no, no, no and I say it again NO! Oh yes I am talking to the parents of Luke the little blonde headed maker of cakes for Santa. Having been a victim of parental hair dressing myself I can tell you that whatever you save on paying a professional hair dresser you will loose a thousand times over in therapy bills for poor Luke.
Do you know how many reindeer Santa has? No I didn't either so I looked it up for you and if you include Rudoph (which of course you would) its 9. So I hope Luke's sister puts out enough carrots this year, tsh, tsh. Although come to think of it we only put out one carrot for them to share and we've had no complaints so far.
Oh and the man with the spreadsheet, love him! Filled me with ver klempt admiration for the amazing effort he makes just for a solo Christmas Dinner. I want him to come to our house this year because people need to be with people at the Holidays, plus he actually knows how to cook a Christmas Dinner!! I do like my guests to be useful.
Now for my American viewers I have to explain a little bit about Christmas "trees" in the UK. I know its confusing that they are calling that pot plant on a table a Christmas "tree" but everything is smaller in the UK including the trees, bless!
I can't wait for the film! Here is a little video where the film maker Kevin Macdonald explains the what and how of the film.
